Kids' Charcuterie Board

It's quick, it's easy, it's completely customizable! This Kids' Charcuterie Board is just my favorite quick lunch or dinner for any time of year.

We all have those nights where we don't want to cook. I had them when I lived by myself. I had them when it was just me and Kollin. And I have them even more now that I am a mom of three! On those nights, my go to has always been meat, cheese, and crackers. Sometimes there would be a dip. Sometimes there would be some fruit or veggies. It was always different and really depended on what I had in the fridge.

As time has gotten crazier, I am also always on the hunt for food I can have on hand for a quick bite at home. We try not to eat out a lot so these quick ingredients make us eat at home a little more often instead of giving into going out to eat. This Kids' Charcuterie Board is the perfect thing for kids, and adults. Most everything on it will last in the fridge or in the pantry for a while so it is easy to have the ingredients on hand.

We mainly eat these on those summer nights when we have been outside all day and don't want to come in. Or on nights where we are in the thick of a busy season, like the holidays, and just want a lighter, effortless dinner. This dinner has been a go to for me for many years. However, this "recipe" is really just an idea and I hope it sparks you to be creative and make your own charcuterie board for dinner!

Details and Tips!

This example is obviously geared toward kids. I highly recommend serving the food on a board and letting them pick what they want. It is so fun to see what they put together! My oldest likes to make a "cheese cookie" where she puts salami in the middle of two pieces of cheese and eats it like a sandwich cookie. The freedom for them to pick what they want allows them to be creative with what they eat. It also helps them eat their veggies!!

Make whatever you want homemade. I am working on some posts for my favorite homemade crackers so those are still coming. But there are so many dips, crackers, and breads that are so easy to make homemade. That little touch of homemade goodness can go a long way.

Ingredients

crackers - Jovial or Simple Mills are our favorite!

cheese - we like to do Tillamook or raw cheeses

salami or beef sticks - nitrate and nitrite free, uncured

veggies - whatever you like! Our family likes cucumbers and peppers best

veggie dip - you always a need a dip with a raw veggie!

fruit - apples and berries are always a good choice

Anything else you like!

Customize!

There are truly so many ways to customize the charcuterie board. You can stick to whatever your family likes best.

I always recommend making in a balance, just like any meal. We want a protein, some healthy fats, fruit, veggies, and a carbohydrate, just like most meals we eat! Go nuts and be creative with anything you think your family will love or what needs cleaned out of the fridge or pantry!
