Easy Pumpkin Butter

The perfect sidekick to a lot of fall recipes, or great spread on some toast! This Pumpkin Butter is naturally sweetened with maple syrup, free of refined sugars, and is so easy to make!

We love butter in our house, sometimes too much! So I figured why not make a butter for the fall season! After all, it is my mission this time of year to make most everything in the theme of the fall season and pumpkin flavors. Since I have made this pumpkin butter, I have added it to all sorts of recipes including cookies, oatmeal, or just spread it on some toast! It is really versatile and has been great to have on hand.

Per usual, this Pumpkin Butter is sweetened with maple syrup, free of refined sugars, and uses really simple ingredients. It is also really quick to make. You just add all of the ingredients to a saucepan and let it simmer for 20 minutes, mixing every so often, and there you have pumpkin butter.

Details and Tips!

This Easy Pumpkin Butter is just that, EASY! You will just add all of the ingredients except the vanilla to a saucepan, heat it over medium heat, and let it simmer for 20 minutes or so. The mixture will thicken up slightly as the moister is released from the pumpkin puree. It will also begin to deepen in color and smell rich and delicious. Once it is done, pull it off the heat and add in the vanilla and stir. Adding the vanilla in at the end will retain that vanilla flavor. If we added it in the beginning, the vanilla flavor would cook off.

This will keep in the fridge for up to a month or in the freezer for up to 3 months. It is great added to oatmeal, cookies, smoothies, or whatever else you can think of! Get creative with it and enjoy the flavors of the season in every way possible!

  • spices - Depending on what you have on hand, you can definitely substitute the nutmeg and cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice. This will give the similar warmth and spiciness that cinnamon and nutmeg offer.
  • sweetness - If you prefer things to be a little sweeter, you can definitely add some more maple syrup. As the mixture simmers, give it a taste and see what you think. Adjust the maple syrup and other spices to your preference.
  • storage - This is best stored in a glass container or mason jar. I will typically put mine in a mason jar with a tight lid to ensure it stays good for as long as possible.
