Peanut Butter Balls
Well, here it is! The girls' most favorite (and easy to make) snack, peanut butter balls! They are asking me to make these all of the time. I promise, they are so so quick to whip up and can be customized easily to your family.
As a busy mom, I am always on the hunt for a quick and homemade snack for my girls. I don't like to buy a lot of store bought snacks because they are expensive and a lot of times, they are full of preservatives. Within the last few years, there have been some more healthy snack options for kids in the store, but I still like to minimize how often they eat them. And honestly, if you look at the ingredients of the healthier options, they still aren't perfect.

I also think about recipes that are going to be easy for the girls to help make. I think it is so important to get our kids in the kitchen, having them help make food that they eat. It helps them understand why we eat certain foods and what foods fuel our body best. It is also is an activity to fill our day!
A Naturally Sweetened Snack!
We focus a lot on naturally sweetened snacks, meaning I am not using sugar. I am sweetening cookies, crackers, muffins, and other snacks with maple syrup or honey. Now, I know there is a time and place for sugar. But if I am able to substitute sugar for honey or maple syrup in things that we eat more often, I do. You will see naturally sweetened recipes a lot from me. Limiting sugar has been a game changer for our household and I am never going back to regularly using sugar.
Customize!
I highly recommend customizing these peanut butter balls. First and foremost, they don't have to be balls. This recipe is great pressed into a 8x8 pan lined with parchment paper and cut into squares!
You can also use almond butter or cashew butter instead of peanut butter. I have used both and they are equally delicious in this recipe. Lastly, mix-ins! Here, I am showing them with sprinkles but here are some of our favorites!
Chocolate chips - my girls favorite. Look for brands like Enjoy Life or Thrive Market brand - click here to try Thrive Market for 40% off your order!
Sprinkles - also a favorite in our house. Always use dye-free or plant-based options. Thrive Market has some great ones. Supernatural is another great brand to check out.
Nuts - chopped peanuts or pistachios are another great way to add some crunch.
Protein Powder - You are more than welcome to add protein powder to these. I know it is quite popular. We just don't use protein powder in our house so I don't have it on hand. If you do, I recommend 1/3 to 1/2 cup.

I hope you and your family enjoy these Peanut Butter Balls!

Peanut Butter Balls
A great snack that is kid approved and parent approved! These are always in stock in our fridge.
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup unsweetened peanut butter
- 1/2 cup raw honey
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 cup sprinkles
- Place the oats, peanut butter, honey, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix together until combined.
- Add in the sprinkles and mix a few times until incorporated.
- Using a small scoop or your hands, form into balls. I like to make them a little smaller than a golf ball, which will make about 20 balls.
- Store in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 10 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
